Illinois universities are graduating a few more qualified agriculture teaching candidates versus a year ago, but even more teachers are needed to fill job openings and help advance the state's number one, and ultimate green, industry. Agricultural Education Remains Resourceful, Effective Illinois Investment Choice

A sound budget includes line items that provide taxpayers with a return on investment. For more than 20 years, agricultural education has been a very successful line item in the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) budget. With the same dollar level as FY10, $3.043 million, Illinois agricultural education will continue to meet growing rural and urban program needs. Non-duplicated student numbers continued strong in 2009 at 29,048; 35 percent were female, 90 percent were non-farm.
