Rules Posted for the New Ag Ed Grant

Last year there was legislation passed and signed into law to create a new grant (Three Circles Grant) to support payment for the additional time agriculture teachers spend towards their agricultural education program.  As is the case when new legislation is passed, there is a process to create rules by the applicable agency to guide how the legislation (in this case, grant) will be administered.  IAVAT representatives who supported this legislation also provided input around their vision of this new grant.  The proposed rules are now posted for public comment.  This provides the public an opportunity to review the rules and make constructive comments or suggestions for improvement.  This link is a summary of the action.  This link takes you to the proposed rules (see subpart E).  The public comment period will end on August 14.  Public comment is not required, but only provides an opportunity to comment if one feels it is necessary.
